Our Story
Big Bend Orthodontics began in 1964, when Dr. Warren C. Butts joined Dr. Quentin Ringinberg in practice on Gore Avenue in Webster Groves. In 1971, Dr. Warren Butts started his own practice on Baker Avenue under Wichman's Florist Shop, then in 1976, the practice moved to 8760 Big Bend Boulevard, where it has remained ever since.
Dr. Heidi knew from a very young age, 11 years old, that she wanted to be an orthodontist. After graduating St. Louis University with an undergraduate degree in Biology in 1986, Dr. Heidi decided to enlist in active duty service in the US Army rotary winged flight school. Some highlights of her active duty include Aviation Service as UH-1 and CH-47 pilot in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
From the desert of Iraq, Dr. Heidi applied to Dental School and was granted early acceptance into the Class of 1996 of SIU School of Dental Medicine. In January of 1999, after graduating from her Orthodontic residency, Dr. Heidi joined her father, Dr. Warren Butts, in practice and has continued the family tradition of extraordinary orthodontic care for the third generations of families.

Dr. Heidi takes time to learn what you want from treatment. Starting at your initial visit – a free consultation – you and she will sit and talk. She wants to understand any concerns you may have, and to ensure you understand what treatment involves, along with what you will need to do for the best experience and results.
As she designs your treatment plan, she will explain what she will do and why she thinks it is the right approach for you. When there are options, she will walk you through those, too. Together, you will decide what treatment path is best suited for the whole of your situation.
You will see Dr. Heidi at every visit and she will provide all of your treatment. Unlike some practices, she is able to dedicate herself to you, and this attention to detail ensures you achieve your most amazing smile – comfortably and efficiently!
